Reserve Division

The Kennebunk Police Department Reserve Officer Program is comprised of part-time police officers who provide an extremely valuable service to our community. Kennebunk utilizes the services of both year-round and summer reserve officers to supplement our full-time compliment of twenty-one full-time sworn officers.

Kennebunk's reserve police officers have significant experience and training, many having served as full-time law enforcement officers previously before electing to move into other careers. Reserve officers are required to meet numerous stringent training and certification requirements.

Training received by reserve officers, to include both classroom and field settings, is comprised of, but not limited to, Ethics and Values, Civil Rights, Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication Skills, Mechanics of Arrest, Criminal, Civil and Traffic Law, Use of Force and Firearms. Further, we conduct in-depth training on the department's Policy and Procedure Manual, our Mission and Vision Statement, as well as the twenty-one Standards of Conduct our personnel are responsible for subscribing to.

I hope you will peruse our Reserve Officer staff listed on the employee page of this site and as always, I welcome your questions or comments concerning our Reserve Police Officer Program.

Sgt. Eric O'Brien
Reserve Officer Program Coordinator
