Police Lieutenant
The Kennebunk Police Department is presently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Lieutenant. This position is one of two Lieutenants responsible for administering divisions to include our Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions, as well as our Communications Center.
The Lieutenant is within the chain of command structure at the department and will work independently under the general supervision of the Chief of Police. This position is regulated by applicable federal, state and local regulations, department rules, contractual limitations, and administrative review.
Kennebunk is located on the southwest coast of Maine; 25 miles south of the City of Portland, Maine and 25 miles north of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Our year-round population is approximately 11,500 and increases significantly during the summer months. The department consists of 28 full-time employees to include; 21 sworn officers, 6 communications operators and 1 administrative assistant, as well as 13 reserve officers.
"Starting" Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000
(Depending upon Experience)
This is a non-union, salaried position and is anticipated to begin no later than
June 15th, 2008.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of Maine Criminal Justice Academy or eligible for waiver.
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of seven (7) years as a full-time police officer.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience at the rank of Sergeant or above.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Should reside within 20-minutes of the police department.
